Pastor Jon needs your help!
Matthew 13:13-14
This is why I speak to them in parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
,
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
,
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
,
In this passage Jesus was talking about how others, who don't follow Jesus, would have trouble understanding what he was talking about. But have you ever noticed that there are a lot of things that Jesus says that even the most devout or learned follower still has trouble understanding? There have been many times that I have turned to the Bible for some time of study and reflection, seeking answers to some of life's questions, only to be left with more questions than I had begun with. Maybe you have been there yourself.
,
So for the next 7 weeks I am asking for help in bringing some of these tough sayings out into group discussion. If you have a particular saying of Jesus that has caused some confusion, consternation, or conundrum, let me know. Send me an e-mail, drop me a line, or write it out and drop it in the collection plate. Each week I will be taking the most mentioned and we will discuss them in our weekly during the worship service. We will also be discussing them during Sunday School. The more submissions I get, the more relevant will be the messages. Thanks for your help!
